Calendar Girls was a project in the Riebeek Valley instigated by Mandy, whose ill husband had been treated in the local clinic. The staff worked in cramped conditions without air conditioning – cold in winter, too hot in summer. Mandy decided to emulate the very successful concept depicted in the 2003 film of the same name, which in turn told the story of a group of Yorkshire women who raised money in aid of Leukaemia Research. The project was successful, and an air conditioning unit was installed.
